The Role

Wathaurong is partnering with Barwon Health to provide primary care services at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. The Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker will provide culturally appropriate support services to Community Members within the Wathaurong, Gulidjan, & Gadubanud Communities.

The work of the Wathaurong SEWB Program is underpinned by the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework, (Balit Murrup – “Strong Spirit”) and we support Community Members in building their self-determination and to meet individual wellbeing goals. 

This role will work as part of the Primary Care Service team at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre with a link to the Wathaurong Social & Emotional Wellbeing program, providing high quality support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people at Cherry Creek.

You will work in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team inclusive of medical officers, registered nurses, mental health and allied health clinicians. You will also work closely with the Youth Justice staff employed by the Department of Justice and Community Safety, including the Aboriginal Liaison Officers. You will play an active role in disciplinary knowledge sharing with your colleagues and creating a reciprocal learning environment for staff.
